Your bike (tandem, recumbent, fixie ...) will be your sole means of sustainable velo transit. The Hunt spans approximately 4 1/2 hours so it's a good idea to bring a snack and water. The terrain is very bicycle-friendly, i.e., it is FLAT! Most cyclists will put in about 15 miles over the course of the hunt, though your team's mileage may vary.
Teams can be made up of friends, family, co-workers, or mortal enemies. We encourage folks to build a team with good group dynamics. This is truly a velo-bonding experience. Here are just some of the photos taken at the Bicycle Treasure Hunt IV--Alameda Island. You may need to get a free Yahoo account to view these photos.
Each team will have roughly between four to eight riders; individuals and couples are encouraged to join and will be assigned to developing teams.
NUMEROUS prizes will be handed out for best team name, craziest team outfit, best team spirit, etc. While your focused goal is trying to solve the clues in the least amount of time, you might miss the boat on life's bigger picture if you believe winning is the goal. The Bicycle Treasure Hunt philosophy--Let Fun be First!
You might just want to rent the movie, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" to get your velo team into the spirit of things and maybe help solve a clue (hint, hint).
Good luck and good hunting!
