Building Bridges, Strengthening Community topFor our ninth anniversary, the annual Expo for Independent Arts (formerly Expo for the Artist & Musician) moves to our first-ever outdoor venue at Dolores Park on Saturday, September 27, 2008.
The Expo is the Bay Area's only grassroots connection fair for independent arts, music and culture, creating a unique and affordable opportunity for education, networking, resource sharing, community interaction and cultivation of the artistic community in San Francisco.
Produced almost entirely by volunteers, the Expo features more than 100 exhibitors, a couple dozen D.I.Y. workshop and education events, delicious food, a children's activity area, and two stages for local entertainment, live music and performance.
20,000 Expo newspapers packed with arts news and features, plus information about the Expo and our sponsors, are distributed in coffee shops, retail establishments and community venues weeks prior to the main event.
Each year the Expo brings about a thousand people through the doors -- a cross-section of Bay Area folks, young and old, families and singles, artists and musicians, advocates, educators, administrators, community boosters, hobbyists, patrons, professionals and more.
Expo exhibitors are diverse, accessible and firmly rooted in the local creative community. The Expo features 100+ arts organizations, service groups, galleries, studios, schools, radio stations, magazines and nonprofits from every corner of the arts, music and performance community. Exhibitor fees are graduated to allow everyone to participate, from small nonprofits to the largest corporation.
Our sponsorship program can put your name and message in front of community arts advocates, producers and consumers. Sponsors are also welcome to present their own exhibits at the event.
You can also advertise in the Expo newspaper, with a print run of 20,000 free copies, and featuring the Expo Program Guide in the center section. Approximately 18,000 of these will be distributed through the Bay Area at retail businesses, libraries and service organizations prior to the Expo. Remaining copies will be distributed at the Expo and in related promotional materials year-round.
