The overall mission of the In-Between Places documentary and accompanying community engagement activities is to raise awareness of, and contribute to public conversations on the personal and interpersonal consequences of U.S. immigration policies on the families of Latino, migrant workers crisscrossing the U.S.-Mexico border.  The documentary film will follow families living in a segregated housing community for migrant farmworkers in the San Joaquin Valley.  The film will document ways in which families living in ongoing conditions of statelessness maintain strong connections, develop community ties, and frame their identities for themselves and for their children.  In-Between Places will demonstrate that immigration is more than an economic choice – it is a constant negotiation of attachment and displacement, and this negotiation has legacies for a community’s social fabric.

In 2015, In-Between Places was awarded one of California HumanitiesCalifornia Documentary Project (CDP) grants for research and development.
