Diamond Wave creates joyful, interactive events and community-based learning experiences that foster empowerment and belonging for intersectional gender non-conforming, queer and trans artists.
Founded in 2018, Diamond Wave’s operations truly took off in 2020, when we responded to urgent pandemic needs with bold, community-rooted vision. We co-led critical efforts like the Bay Area Arts Crisis Navigator, Artists’ Adaptability Circles Collaborative, the MASCellaneous creative workshop series exploring queer masculinities and the soft defiance program exploring the intersection of softness and queer mental health.
Our flagship program, the THEYFRIEND Nonbinary Performance Festival, is offered annually in mid-November to uplift, center and celebrate nonbinary identity - while offering spaces for people of all gender expressions to explore life outside the binary.
Since 2020, we’ve hosted 55 in-person events and 45 virtual programs in San Francisco, all dedicated to presenting, resourcing, and celebrating queer, trans, and nonbinary artists.
