The Intersection

Welcome to THE INTERSECTION

This documentary series – produced in conjunction with local public radio station KALW and with grants from California Humanities and San Francisco Arts Commission – explores the contours of change in the Bay Area and in cities in general.  The Intersection was first launched in 2014 as a KALW radio series about the Third Street and Jerrold Avenue intersection in the Bayview District of San Francisco.  One corner, one person and one story at a time.

And don’t miss Seasons 1 & 2!

Season 1 of THE INTERSECTION takes us to the corner of Golden Gate Avenue and Leavenworth Street in the Tenderloin. The neighborhood has by far the highest density of children, seniors and families in the city – as well as drug dealers. Compared to the rest of San Francisco, the corner and the neighborhood seems unchanged. It’s been written off by many – and is still misunderstood by most. Until now, hopefully . . .

Season 2 brought us to North Shoreline and Space Park in Mountain View, California. More than 40 years since the phrase “Silicon Valley” was coined, we’ll see how the tech industry is continuing to shape the area and the lives of people who live and work near Google’s campus.
